Ask Right, Hire Right
Sitting across from Luna the cat is no problem.
Sitting across from a potential new hire…that’s a different story.
Don’t just fill a vacancy solely because they seem nice.
Hire someone who will elevate your service quality.
I see it all the time: Vets get in front of candidates and ask the wrong questions.
So, ask the right interview questions.
Here are a couple to consider incorporating into your next interview:
"Can you define the role of a [specific position] from your perspective?" This question helps you gauge the candidate’s understanding of the position and their responsibility expectations.
"Tell us about a challenge you faced in your previous role and how you handled it." This gives insight into their problem-solving skills and adaptability.
"[Clinic Name] focuses on giving each client a memorable experience each visit. How do you see yourself accomplishing that? What does a memorable experience mean to you?" This question is key to understanding whether the candidate aligns with your client service philosophy.
Every question you ask should aim to peel back a layer of the candidate's professional persona.
But don’t just stop there.
