Nice ≠ Qualified
You’re eager to get in-house X-rays running, but you just lost your best tech.
At that moment, it’s tempting to rush your interview process and hire the first tech you meet.
Especially if they’re “nice enough.”
But you don’t want someone who’s just “enough” poking pets with needles and representing your practice.
When you interview a new tech candidate, remember you’re not there to decide if you like the person.
The candidate needs to be qualified, and you need to listen and ask the right questions to determine if they are.
Listen for things like:
Thoughtful answers. Are they prepared, attentive, and answer questions with thought?
Familiarity with job requirements. Are they familiar with tools, equipment, methods, etc., similar to the ones your practice uses?
Don’t rush into hiring the first “nice enough” candidate.
Conduct thorough interviews that help you decide if a tech is the right fit for your practice in both experience and personality.
